HOW TO FIND A GOOD SEO EXPERT – PART 1
In today’s digital world, search engines are an integral part of doing business online. With more and more consumers relying on search engine results when making purchase decisions, what was once a nice-to-have is now a business necessity. Getting your business website on the first page of search engine results is a sure-fire way to boost your inbound traffic and lead generation. But how do you get there?
Enter the SEO experts. These are individuals who make their bread and butter helping your website to climb up the search rankings. But just like there’s a right and wrong way to do SEO, there are good and bad SEO experts. Many will promise the world and deliver little, and some will even resort to some of the more underhanded practices to try and get results.
As a business owner, you don’t have time to become an SEO expert yourself, so it makes sense to hire one. But what should you look for in an SEO expert? How do you know whether the person offering their services to you will be good for business?
They have a track record
If they are unwilling or unable to divulge their past clients or projects, you should be wary. It’s possible that they are new to the game, in which case you should consider whether they have the expertise to suit your needs. It’s also possible they don’t want to tell you because the techniques they used for those clients were not above board.
You should also approach their proposal as you would any other service provider. If they do provide a portfolio, check it out. Contact their clients and ask if they were any good. Did they get results? Were their terms reasonable? Did the results last, or go away as soon as they did? All of this is important information when choosing any business partner.
